Mark Belton - director
Mark has worked in forestry for over 40 years. In 2004 Mark became interested in the potential for carbon markets to value protecting forests. Mark’s focus is growing long-lived forests that maximise carbon sequestration in a manner that is profitable and sustainable. Mark champions the vision of integrated forestry development within farms, not wholesale replacement of farms with planted forests. Outside of NZ, Mark advises on forest projects in Europe, the Americas, and South East Asia. Mark holds a Bachelor and a Diploma in Natural Resources.
Ollie belton - Director
Ollie is a pioneer in New Zealand’s emissions trading industry with over 14 years’ experience. His focus is on non-harvest forests, indigenous forestry, and the Permanent Forest Sink Initiative (PFSI). Ollie is a member of the Government’s ETS Technical Advisory Group which provides feedback to officials on the current ETS forest reform. Ollie is also the Managing Director of Carbon Forest Services Limited which provides specialist consulting on all areas related to the ETS. Ollie holds a Bachelor of laws (LLB), and a Bachelor of Arts (BA).
Mathilde batelier-belton - general manager
Mathilde has been working in the sustainability sector for more than five years. As the Project and Offsetting Manager, she leads on running the voluntary programme for carbon offsets, works with landowners to feature their projects and lead on the research and strategy for PFNZ. She specialises in carbon markets and climate change policy both in the public and private sector. She obtained two masters from top European universities focusing on how economic and market-based policies can both support and inhibit sustainable development.
